The Quarry Team by A. Stanhope Forbes of a scene on the road from Penzance to Lands End.
In 1894 while on display at the Royal Academy, the painting was vandalised by a militant suffragette with an umbrella. In the 1940s it was bought by the Polglase family of Treneere Manor, Penzance for £175 (approx £9,000 today). When the last member of the Polglase family died in 1956 the whole estate was left to the gardener, Reginald Symons. When he died in 2006 the painting was sold at auction by Bonhams for £132,000.
