This adorable antique French aide mémoire note book or ‘carnet de bal' circa 1900
Manufactured in silver plate complete with pencil and possibly original paper pad.
These were either hung on a chatelaine belt for general notes or used as a dance card book.
The front reflects the style of the Napoleonic era and the reverse is high Art Nouveau.

On the front is a roundel decorated with stars and all around it are little flowers. At top and base are leafy garlands and more flowers. The background is strewn with stars.. The top has a swirling, Art Nouveau spray of leaves. The center circle has been inscribed with a very faint name.
On the back there is an exquisite, repoussé design of chrysanthemums and the sinuous lines typical of Art Nouveau.
